MIRA collected MVR 2.33 billion as revenue in December 2024. This is an increment of 4.7% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, it is an increment of 20.2% compared to the forecasted amount for December 2024.
Revenue for December 2024 is higher than December 2023, mainly due to the increment of GST, Green Tax along with the receipt of Corporate Social Responsibility Fee. An Increment of 5.7% in tourist arrivals in November 2024, compare to November 2023, led to favorable outcome in tourism related Taxes and Fees during this month.
Revenue of December 2024 is higher than projection, mainly due to the increase in TGST, work permit fee, Green Tax along with the increment in Expatriate Quota fee and GGST.
In December 2024, GST accounted for the largest share of revenue received by MIRA which is 57.34% or MVR 1.33 billion. The next largest revenue was from Tourism Land Rent which is 16.25% or MVR 378.55 million. In addition, Income Tax of MVR 116.16 million (5.0%), Green Tax MVR 109.46 (4.7%), Airport Development Fee MVR 95.39 million (4.1%) and Departure Tax MVR 93.93 million (4.0%).
Out of the revenue collected in December 2024, USD 112.75 million constitutes the dollar collection.
