MIRA collects MVR 1.81 billion as revenue in February.

MIRA collected MVR 1.43 billion as revenue in February 2020. This amount is 12.3% more than the amount received for the same month last year and 2.2% more than the forecast for February 2020.

Main reason for the increase in revenue collected in February 2020 is due to BPT second interim payments which were received in February as the original deadline (31 January 2020) for the payment was extended as it was a public holiday. And compared to February 2019, number of tourists departed from Velaana International Airport was more in February 2020, resulting in an increase in Airport Development Fee and Airport Service Charge received. Another reason for the increase in revenue collected include Lease Period Extension fee received being a ‘once-off payment’.

The greatest share of the revenue collected in February 2020 was from GST with MVR 623.73 million or 43.7%. The second largest contributor was BPT with MVR 412.54 million or 28.9%. Other significant contributors include Green Tax (MVR 77.02 million or 5.4%), Lease Period Extension Fee (MVR 76.8 million or 5.4%), Airport Development Fee (MVR 72.53 million or 5.1%) and other taxes and fees (MVR 168.86 million or 11.6%).

Out of the revenue collected in February 2020, USD 57.2 million constitutes the dollar collection.
